Chef Moves to Schools
Our Chefs Move to Schools program, supported by the USDA and First Lady Michelle Obama, educates children about food and healthy eating.
Last year, we initiated the program at Blanchard Middle School and Stony Brook Middle School. Chef Vic Torrito worked with groups of students to prepare and serve healthy, sustainable lunches for each school. Students were encouraged to continue eating healthily in their everyday lives.
Most recently, public high school Westford Academy continued this program as Chef Vic taught a health and wellness class all about sustainable local foods. He engaged these students by performing hands-on demonstrations, including salad and pasta-making. This workshop received much positive feedback from the students.
